Добавлен 4 дек 2015
Vocal renditions of published songs found online. The performances closely follow the sheet music arrangements. More songs are available at www.sheetmusicsinger.com and at our sub-projects Greatest Songs, 1922 Songs, and High Brown Songs. This growing collection is a tiny fraction (around 1%) of all the sheet music that's available online. Our hope is that many others will join in the singing to recover much more of this lost music.
You Know What I Mean (1919)
A novelty song from 1919
Words by Alfred Dubin
Music by Fred Rath
Lyrics
1. I’ve been dreaming, I’ve been dreaming
I’ve been scheming, too
I hope my dreams come true
It all depends on you
I’m suspecting, I’m suspecting
That your eyes have seen
There’s something wrong with me
And you know what I mean
Refrain
Oh, I’m just crazy ’bout your kisses, honey
You know what I mean
For when your lips meet mine
I feel so funny
You know what I mean
You’re just a dream of loveliness
You surely know just how to dress
You play and sing, and everything
So different from the rest
I’d like to hear the preacher say that we are
You know what I mean
And in a year or so we both may have
A little Ford machine
We’ll find a little cottage ...

What a neat old tune. I can imagine Sophie Tucker singing it. I wish it were just a bit more explicit, an audience today would probably miss the point entirely. I guess what was once risque is now blase.
Thanks you your chords ruclips.net/video/OFNAQhcrnL8/видео.htmlsi=EdQb-A8uLzMK3UUL
Kool Klan tunes. Could it be played during the lighting of the cross! Ceremony.
Klan tunes.
I'm here from "The Race", a book by Clive Cussler about airplane races
When someone sings this im driving myself to crazy town
I loved the overall flavor: honest and good!
Ricky Nelson's father?
Yes, for sure. Ozzie and his wife Harriet Hilliard ( his band’s vocalist) went on to star in TV’s longstanding family sitcom “The Ozzie & Harriet Show”, with their 2 sons David and Ricky. Ricky became a teen idol rock singer because of the show (and his own talent of course).
if you make it 2*times speed ,it sound so cheerful
You dar-lin'
Tons of great sheet music at our website.
You can support this channel with word of mouth.
Lovely!
This song apparently had its origins in the 1870s during the Franco-Prussian wars. Then the Brits adapted it in WWI as "Mademoiselle from Armentieres" . U.S. soldiers brought to America after WWI. This published version came with 20 extra choruses. I sonly sang 15--it was getting way too long, plus some of the choruses contained unacceptable ethnic stereotypes...

Yesterday, I just happened to be listening to Billy Jones and Ernest Hare's version yesterday for my 1920-1929 playlist of Irving Berlin songs, and the set of lyrics there are quite different. They are about a woman cutting her hair short, as was the style at the time: ruclips.net/video/UynFq-08eWU/видео.htmlsi=ZIRTIgI0p6FY2u0Y
Thanks for this link. The Jones and Hare version is really a totally different song., isn't it? I guess it fit better with their comedy schtick...It's funny, but I don't think they captured the essence of this really clever song.
Thank you for the video... Nice pick ~
Thank you for adding the extra Ada Jones chorus. That the best part of the song!
The first time I heard this song was during the "America Sings Attraction" at Disneyland. I was five. :)

hello , i was finally able to send a scan of the sheet music for "please don't say no ( say maybe )" . thank you for your patience .
This sounds *exactly* like Rick Beato's singing voice
Nice one!
The genesis of this song appears to be Voltaire who purportedly said, as he neared the end of his own life, “I don’t know where I’m going but I’m on my way”.
This delightful little song from 1923 is by two young women from Clarksdale, Mississippi. It was self-published by Marjorie Lamkin. I can't find any info on these women, but there was obviously talent here.
When i was in school I don't remember what grade but it wasn't very far in school and we were having to do that song in choir but I tried my best to understand that song I liked the song but I couldn't figure out what it was about and I did not know that queer in the song really meant queer.!
W Song!
This was one of the first hit songs for the Sherman brothers. They would of course go on to write memorable songs for such projects as _Mary Poppins, Jungle Book, The Aristocats, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Bedknobs and Broomsticks,_ the _Winnie the Pooh_ featurettes and the Disney theme parks.
I was shocked to hear that one of them is still alive. They should have brought them back for the 2011 Winnie the Pooh film.
@@GLepRagtimeChronicle Depends on your definition of "alive". Richard Sherman can still play the piano, but his voice is practically gone, he can barely sing anymore.
@@jasobres My great-grandmother is currently the same age as Sherman. She could play the piano well, but I don't think she can anymore.
❤
How about "Song Of The Revolution" 1786?
Need the sheet music for it or a link, please.
